  36. Retrieving the resource identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier 
  37. (URI) [3] is only one of the operations that can be performed 
  38. on a URI. One might also ask for and get a list of other identifiers 
  39. that are aliases for the original URI or a bibliographic description 
  40. of the resource the URI denotes, for example. This applies to both 
  41. Uniform Resource Names (URNs) and Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). 
  42. Uniform Resource Characteristics (URCs) are discussed in this document 
  43. but only as descriptions of resources rather than identifiers.

  45. A service in the network providing access to a resource may provide one or some of these options, but it need not provide all of them. This memo
  46. specifies an initial set of these functions, to be used to describe the
  47. functions provided by any given access service and the requirements that
  48. must be met when those operations are encoded in a protocol.

  76.     MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility.  To use this
  77.     feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
  78.     command.  To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
  79.     a MIME-compliant mail reader.  Different MIME-compliant mail readers
  80.     exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
  81.     "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
  82.     up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
  83.     how to manipulate these messages.
